This semester we will make our way through a study of the beginnings of Traditional Formal Logic (Aristotelian Logic). We will study the three acts of the mind and their consequent verbal expressions. The acts of the mind include simple apprehension, judgment, and deductive inference. By the end of the semester: students will be able to identify terms, propositions, and syllogisms, and apply the basic rules for evaluating the soundness of an argument (validity, truth).
