Scrip
The SCRIP Program was implemented into St. Mary’s Catholic School fundraising efforts in the Fall of 2009. SCRIP continues to gain popularity as our favored fundraising endeavor because of the ability to earn free tuition while doing nothing but shopping as you normally would. A more detailed explanation of how SCRIP works is below.
Q: What is Scrip?
A: “Scrip” is also sometimes called “substitute money,” but it really is just another way of saying gift certificate or gift cards. The Scrip program is a fundraiser where you can buy gift cards at face value (for example, a $25 Old Navy card for $25), but SMCS is given a rebate percentage from the retailer. If you choose, half of that rebate can count toward your tuition expenses! That can really add up if SCRIP is used regularly.
When purchased regularly, Scrip rebates increase and give the school money to spend on various needs for the school. If you use Scrip to buy something you get anyway, like gas or groceries, you spend no extra money, and the school gets cash. How cool is that?
Q: What are some of the cards available through Scrip?
A: Most of the participating retailers are major chains, including many in Temple. Grocery stores (HEB / Wal-Mart Stores), fast food (Pizza Hut, Arby’s, Burger King, KFC), gas stations (Exxon, Chevron, Shell), and even Wal-Mart. Cards are also available for other stores in the region like Kohl’s, Pier One, JC Penny, and Bath & Body Works. You can even get phone cards, airline tickets, and music with Scrip.
Q: How do I get Scrip?
A: There are two ways to get Scrip. You can fill out an order form and turn it in to the office by 10:30 a.m. on Mondays and then pick up your cards in the office on Wednesday afternoon. We will notify you upon their arrival.
Or you can go online to www.shopwithscrip.com and place your order there. You can pay online or bring a check for the appropriate amount to the school office by Monday morning. Your cards will be available for pick up on Wednesday afternoon.
